RE: Questions about my parents new(84) motorhome(Alaska)

i have a 79 ford class C thats 24 ft with a 460 ci engine and a 3 speed C-6 tranny with a 3.73 rear end , in the hills with some flat driveing i get 10 mpg and steeper mountains i get 8 MPG. on good flat ground you might be able to get better then that but around here there is no really long flat streach of roads that i drive on so i can not conferm it, 12 mpg would be about the best you might get.i know of some one that swears he can get that with his when driveing on long flat highways down south .my best mileage is at 55 mph .

RE: Have you used the self-stick tiles on your floor?

the self stick fake wood strips around 3 ft long from lowes look realy nice easy to put down and cut and clean up is easy, they hold up very well, have some in the bathroom in the camper and a couple of rooms at home.

RE: Where is LP shutoff valve on 1984 Winnebago Mini Winnie

the main valve is on the tank,if its open now and you know theres gas in it and still get no gas thru close it then reopen slowly there is a flow shut off on the valve that trips if you open it to fast sometimes, check the gas lines for a small shut off valve near the appilance on some rvs, last resort may be a bad gas regulator valve in the line outside near the main shutoff.

RE: winter storage generator fuel tank

putting a shut off on the fuel line and running the generator till it quits is another option leaveing gas in the carb for long periods is never a good idea.the same goes for other things like lawn mowers and things that get put up for the winter season.sta-bil wouldnt hurt ether.i drain my tanks on small engines and fill when needed, i keep some in gas cans if i need it and use it in the cars and refill them to keep the spare gas fresher.

RE: What tools did you decide to carry?

have a complete set to do about any repairs needed including air tools rather have them then not, also carry many small parts ,clamps, have a spare starter and altonator and belts, doesnt take that much room or weight.

RE: broken cable starcraft starmate 1988

i bought some stainless aircraft cable of the right size and did my own years ago,i used some small cable clamps and a kit for garage door cables to make the loop ends that were used on one end of the cables on mine ,you will never have to replace the cables again with the stainless aircraft cables.

RE: Tag axle vs dually in a 22' motorhome

i dont think you will find a tag axle on a 22fter there kind of rare but i have seen one on a PU truck chassie camper and the tag was engineered poorly on the one i seen, duels are pretty much stock on 1 tons and would be better then singles and give more support and safty.
